Výzkumný ústav pícninářský spol. s r. o., Troubsko Abstract In the years 1985 - 1990 and 1996 - 1997 the content of hard seeds in the seed of lucerne, meadow clover and white clover was studied. In 1985 - 1990 the highest content of hard seeds in the three studied clover crops was found in white clover.

Is seedlings resistance to drought influenced by grain size? Ing. Michala Ottová Ing. Jiří Zámečník, CSc. VÚRV Praha - Ruzyně Abstract Seed size had an influence on both osmotic potential and dry matter accumulation in coleoptile under water stress. Coleoptiles grown from larger seeds under water stress had significantly higher dry matter per plant and lower osmotic potential.

The vitality of harvested seed was measured as percentage of germination under low temperature and water stress.

Deterioration of seed was regulated by the environmental temperature and moisture according to the accelerated ageing test.
